Copilot Barista

Location: Hotel Hartness Department: Food & Beverage Reports To: Copilot Manager

Position Overview

The Barista is responsible for preparing high-quality coffee, beverages, and light food offerings while creating a warm, welcoming experience for hotel guests and local customers. This role combines technical barista skills with exceptional hospitality to reflect the boutique hotel’s personalized service style.

Experience and Skills:

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service

* Deliver friendly, polished, and efficient service to hotel guests and walk-in customers.

* Anticipate guest needs and provide knowledgeable recommendations.

* Handle guest concerns or requests with professionalism and care.

Beverage & Food Preparation

* Prepare coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and specialty beverages to consistent quality standards.

* Follow recipes and presentation guidelines for all drinks and menu items.

* Assist with light food preparation, plating, and heating as needed.

Operations & Cleanliness

* Arrive on time in proper uniform and follow all timekeeping procedures.

* Attend pre-shift meetings and participate in ongoing training.

* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, café area, equipment, and workstations.

* Follow all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation guidelines.

* Assist with stocking pastries, grab-and-go items, and merchandise.

Cash Handling & POS

* Operate the POS system, process payments accurately, and manage cash responsibly.

* Promote menu items, seasonal offerings, and hotel programs when appropriate.

Team Support

* Work collaboratively with fellow baristas and hotel staff to ensure smooth service.

* Assist with opening and closing duties, restocking, inventory rotation, and supply management.

* Communicate equipment issues or inventory shortages to management promptly.

* Support all areas of the hotel including Captain lobby bar / restaurant as instructed. Cross train as instructed.

Qualifications

* Prior barista or café experience preferred; hospitality or hotel experience is a plus.

* Strong customer service skills and a warm, upbeat personality.

* The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality.

* Basic understanding of espresso equipment, milk steaming, and drink preparation (training provided).

* Reliability, punctuality, and strong teamwork skills.

* Ability to work flexible shifts, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

* Ability to stand for long periods.

* Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.

* Comfortable with a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
