The Greystone Inn an iconic, luxury lakeside retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains is seeking an experienced Task Force Chef to step in, stabilize, and elevate our culinary operation during a transitional period.

This is a hands-on, leadership-forward role for a chef who thrives in fast-paced environments, respects tradition, and knows how to bring a kitchen back into rhythm without breaking the culture.

As Task Force Chef, you will provide immediate culinary leadership, operational oversight, and mentorship to the kitchen team while maintaining the high standards our guests expect. You’ll be trusted to assess, execute, and leave the operation stronger than you found it.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations across all meal periods

• Stabilize staffing, schedules, and kitchen flow

• Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation across all menus

• Maintain food cost controls, inventory, and ordering discipline

• Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health code compliance

• Collaborate with ownership and leadership on menu execution and refinement

• Coach and develop the culinary team with professionalism and respect

• Step confidently into service when needed—this is not a clipboard-only role

Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef in upscale or luxury hospitality

• Prior task force, interim, or turnaround experience strongly preferred

• Calm under pressure; decisive without being disruptive

• Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills

• Deep respect for classic technique with a modern, guest-focused mindset

• Ability to adapt quickly to an established brand and culinary vision
