Job Description:

The Hotel Landing, nintwentyfive and laka spa is in search of a detailed, energetic and forward thinking Catering Sales Manager to join the Sales team.

Located in the heart of downtown Wayzata on the shore of Lake Minnetonka, Wayzata is becoming a trendy food scene for this small town community with a highly seasonal influx of tourists and only 15 minutes from Minneapolis.

Managed by Hay Creek Hotels, this luxury 92 guest room & suites boutique hotel, includes an upscale 2 level restaurant/bar, seasonal patio, state of the art meeting facilities, ballroom and spa.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively generate new catering leads through outside sales calls and events, as well as phone and email outreach.
  • Promptly and cordially handles incoming inquiries, interviews potential clients and obtains function details.
  • This position is responsible for achieving food and beverage budget through sales and up selling techniques.
  • Meet and greet clients (including walk-ins), conduct property sites, and schedule regular on-site lunch appointments to promote facilities and services.
  • Develop client menus, generate contracts and letters as well as organize all other arrangements as they relate to corporate and social events.
  • Develop and distribute all communications relating to planning and execution of functions, including BEO’s, group resumes, and room sets according to established guidelines.
  • Supervise the overall set-up and implementation of corporate and social events.
  • Communicate with relevant departments to ensure proper servicing.
  • Work efficiently and respectfully with management in all departments and throughout the hotel to ensure positive, memorable experiences are created.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of competition and complete a competitive analysis for corporate and social venues in our comp set for annual marketing plan.
  • Adopt industry trends, tools and techniques. Research available training opportunities and present them to DOSM for approval.
  • Maintain effective communication within departments; be responsive to training and opportunities concerning sales and catering.
  • Responsible to meet and or exceed individual sales production goals and to meet all call quotas as established on an annual basis.
  • Assist with the marketing budget by analyzing ROI of current catering advertising and promotion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Experience and Skills:



  • 2+ years catering management experience.
  • Proven success with people skills, management techniques and daily execution of operations.
  • Clean work habits with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast paced and demanding environment while maintaining calmness, composure, and hospitality.
  • Ability to think quickly and adapt to changing situations.
  • Must have flexibility with schedule requirements.
  • Familiarity with Word, Excel, Outlook.
