Job Description:

The Hotel Landing, nintwentyfive and laka spa is in search of a detailed, energetic and forward thinking Catering Sales Manager to join the Sales team.

Located in the heart of downtown Wayzata on the shore of Lake Minnetonka, Wayzata is becoming a trendy food scene for this small town community with a highly seasonal influx of tourists and only 15 minutes from Minneapolis.

Managed by Hay Creek Hotels, this luxury 92 guest room & suites boutique hotel, includes an upscale 2 level restaurant/bar, seasonal patio, state of the art meeting facilities, ballroom and spa.

The Event Sales Manager is responsible for handling local social catering opportunities including Weddings, Small Association Groups & Sports Groups. The incumbent is responsible for contracting and closing banquet and/or local catering and social business, and ensure that business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for quality service delivery. The position is responsible for achieving and exceeding the hotel revenue goals by actively up-selling each business opportunity to maximize revenue.

Participate in the required company standard meetings, including but not limited to daily operations stand up meeting, weekly Banquet Event Order meetings,weekly one-on-one with each sales manager, and weekly staff meeting.

Identify, qualify and solicit new corporate group business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.

Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and know how to sell against them.

Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts.

Design, develop and sell creative catered events.

Maximize revenue by up-selling packages and creative food and beverage offerings.

Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.

Develop a close working relationship with operations to ensure execution of strategies at the hotel level.

Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities for outside customer solicitation and relationship building

Conduct hotel tours and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies.

Be able to understand and interpret market conditions, trends, and the competition, as well as catering sales month-end reports.

Detail, coordinate and customize client experiences for corporate and social groups.

Meet and greet clients upon arrival or beginning of their program or event.

Develop and distribute all communications relating to execution of the event including BEO’s.

Type and print menus for all plated luncheons/dinners/weddings

Print and distribute BEO and resume packets weekly

Experience and Skills:

A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment

Refined verbal and written communication skills

Must be proficient in computer knowledge

Candidates should be extremely detail oriented and organized

Prefer three years hotel event/catering sales experience
