Job Description:

Hotel Hartness is actively searching for professional, friendly, and fast-paced Banquet  Captain to join our Food and Beverage team.

 Both part and full time positions available.

Job Summary: 

  • Effectively monitor the daily operations of the Banquet Department, including providing support and guidance to fellow banquet personnel to ensure a successful and effective operation ending in a positive guest experience.
Essential Functions :
  • Review all written communication, i.e., resumes, daily/weekly, Banquet Event Orders to determine appropriate staffing levels, room/station assignments, buffet décor and enhancements as they relate to banquets and meeting room set-ups.  Communicate all changes within the Banquet Department and makes adjustments according to the above items.  Communicate information to the kitchen and other supportive departments prior to and during events.                                                             
  • Check all room sets prior to each event.  Meet with the Banquet Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen and proper display ware.  Check all china, glassware, silverware, and linen items needed for the event.  Inform staff of specific needs for buffets and receptions.  Check staffing needs for upcoming events.  Check inventory needs for all upcoming events.
  • Sees that all scheduled functions take place on time and according to plan.  All rooms are to be ready 15 minutes before time on BEO.
  • Supervises clearing and post function cleanup.  Check servers out, making sure that function rooms, aisle and storage areas are clean, and equipment is cleaned and stored properly.  Assures that trash is placed in the dumpster.

Experience and Skills:

  • Prior experience in Banquet Services required.

  • Ability to work in a constructive, team working environment with a positive, upbeat and customer-focused attitude.

  • Flexibility to work nights or mornings, weekends, holidays, and busy seasonal days (i.e. town festivals).

  • May be subject to successful completion of background check and/or DMV check.
